City Bus

The city buses of Ulsan are classified into city buses, branch buses and community-based buses (which run in areas where the city bus can't run due to special conditions of terminals or vehicle types).

City Bus Route Guide: Ulsan City distributes the city bus guide. You can use this guide to find information on the operating hours, stations, terminals, and frequency of each bus. The guide includes information on seated buses (jwaseok bus), branch buses (jiseon bus) and community-based buses (maeul bus). The guide is available through public service centers at the city hall and district offices free of charge.

Transportation Card (T-card)
  • How to Use
    • T-cards are automatically scanned when they are within 5 cm of a T-card reader (next to the driver's seat) for about 0.5 of a second. The reader deducts the fare by saying "Thank you!" when using T-cards for adults, "Teenager!" for T-cards used by teenagers, and "Child" for T-cards used by children.
    • For transfer discounts, scan the T-card on the T-card reader at the top of the rear door when you get off if you plan to transfer to another city bus within the next hour. You should confirm that the T-card reader says "Transfer" before you get off the bus to transfer to the next bus.
  • Purchase and Charge of T-cards
    • Mini T-card cards (4,000 Won) and character T-cards (6,000 Won) are sold at recharging stations (previously bus ticket shops). You can recharge a T-card by topping up a minimum of 5,000 Won and up to a maximum of 500,000 Won. A post-payment system using a credit card was introduced September 1, 2009. Now most credit cards can be used as T-cards.
  • Available Credit Cards
    • Prepaid T-Card : Mybi Card, Hanaro Card (Busan), T-Money Card (Seoul), EB Card (Gyeonggi and Incheon)
    • Post-Payment T-Card (Credit Card): Kookmin Card, Lotte Card, Samsung Card, Shinhan Card, Korea Exchange Bank Card, Hana Card, Hyundai Card, BC Card.
  • Things to Note for Post-payment T-Cards
    • Post-payment T-Cards are available only for those who satisfy the requirements for a credit card by a credit card company.
    • Check if your credit card has the transportation card function in advance.
    • Only credit cards with the "post-payment transportation card" mark on the back can be used.

(The "post-payment transportation card" mark varies depending on the credit card company. Check with your credit card company before using your credit card as a transportation card.

    • You can not use your card if it doesn’t have a "post-payment transportation card" sign.
    • The fares paid by post-payment transportation cards are automatically charged to the credit card bill the following month.
  • Caution
    • If you have more than two credit cards that can be used as transportation cards (whether a prepaid or post-payment card), you may be double charged.
Transfer
  • Free Transfer
    • one card per person. Unlimited transfers within one hour after getting off the first bus (based on the highest fare, ※ however, you can not use the same line twice).
